Celebrating 50 years of the Whitsunday Airport
Sunday May 1st 10am - 1pm $5 entry fee (children 5 and under free)
Entertainment includes: RAAF Roulettes and their fabulous formation flying, MaxxG Aerobatics with incredible aerobatic displays in Pitts Specials and his Grumman Avenger, CHC helicopters showing us their skills in rescue missions, formation skydiving and a tandem routine from Skydive Airlie Beach, a grand introduction to our local tenants Air Whitsunday, Helibiz and Heli Tours Whitsunday and some formation marching by local area air cadet groups.
The day will be broadcast live by Cliffo and Tiana from HOT FM and there will be an MC throughout the day which includes talks given by Roulette and CHC team members, and live broadcasting from the cockpit of the Pitts!
Our very own Beaver Bar will have two licensed areas, as well as a sausage sizzle, sushi and other delicious snacks. We will also have from our own markets the famous Norm's roast beef rolls, Jenni's poffertjies, homemade ice cream, coffee and fresh fruit slushies. There will be a free jumping castle for the kids as well.
3,500m2 will be fenced off with displays by all of our tenants, RFDS, CQ Rescue, Whitsunday Aero club, Dwyer Aviation, CQ Adventure Flights, Bowen Model Aircraft Club and the RAAF to name a few. This gives you a rare and fantastic opportunity to get up close to aircraft, and speak to those working in the industry.
There will be plenty of specials on the day to take advantage of and scenic flights will be offered for the Pitts Special (if you dare!), the fabulous CQ Adventure Flights YAK, by seaplane or helicopter.
